Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Whatsnxt Global (Pty) Ltd ("Whatsnxt", "we", "us" or "our") handles personal information when you use the Whatsnxt mobile application, website, support channels and related services (together, the "Services").
1. Information we collect
We process information that you provide directly, information generated when you use a feature, and information supplied by an authentication or service provider. Depending on the version and features you use, this may include:
- Account and profile information: name, username, date of birth, email address, telephone number, profile photo, interests and other details you choose to provide.
- Authentication information: account identifiers and basic profile information supplied by sign-in providers (for example, Google, Apple or another provider you choose). We do not receive your provider password.
- Location information: approximate or precise location only where you enable location permissions or use a location-based feature. You can change this permission in your device settings.
- Events and bookings: event or venue details, attendance or RSVP status, ticket information, bookings, searches, preferences and related requests.
- Photos and verification material: profile or event images you choose to upload. If you use host or identity-verification features, this may also include a selfie or identity-document images.
- Payment, payout and transaction information: transaction references, status, amounts and dates. Host features may request bank-account details for payouts. Payment-card details entered on a payment provider's page are processed under that provider's terms.
- Technical and support information: app version, operating system, IP address, logs needed to operate or secure the Services, ticket-scan values, and the content of support requests or feedback you send us.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to provide and operate the Services; create and manage accounts; authenticate users; support discovery, events, tickets, bookings, host applications and payments; provide support; maintain security; prevent fraud, abuse and other harmful activity; diagnose and improve the Services; and meet legal and regulatory obligations.
3. When we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- with people or organisations you choose to interact with through the Services, such as event organisers, attendees or booking counterparties;
- with service providers that help us host, store media, provide authentication, maps or location search, verify hosts, support users, or process payments, subject to appropriate contractual or legal safeguards;
- where required by law, legal process or a valid governmental request, or where necessary to protect rights, safety, property or the integrity of the Services;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of assets, subject to applicable law; or
- with your consent or at your direction.
4. International processing
Our service providers and systems may process information in South Africa and in other countries. Where information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and applicable data-protection law.
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account credentials confidential and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including operating the Services, resolving disputes, maintaining security and meeting legal, accounting and reporting obligations. When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify associated information unless limited retention is necessary for purposes such as:
- backup recovery while protected backup copies cycle out;
- security, fraud prevention, audit and dispute resolution; or
- transaction, accounting, tax or other records that applicable law requires us to retain.
We restrict retained information to the relevant purpose and delete or de-identify it when the applicable retention requirement ends.
7. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, update, object to certain processing of, or delete your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, although this will not affect processing already carried out. You can update some information in the app or contact us at support@whatsnxt.app. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
If you are in South Africa, you may have rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), including the right to complain to the Information Regulator. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
8. Children and minors
The Services are not intended for children where their use is prohibited by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent required by law. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so that we can review and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as our Services or legal obligations change. We will post the revised version here and update the "Last updated" date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
